The "Ophthalmic Air Hospital Training Program" of He Vision Group and Orbis International was successfully launched, and the "International Myopia Prevention and Control Summit Forum" was the first international summit forum of the "Ophthalmic Air Hospital Training Program," bringing together dozens of international and domestic well-known ophthalmologists as well as provincial and municipal education department leaders to have a brainstorm on myopia prevention and control.

The biggest feature of this forum is that, for the first time, educational departments and ophthalmologists are linked together while educational experts and ophthalmologists work together to support the prevention and control of myopia in teenagers and bring together the efforts of all parties, to deal with the severe situation of myopia prevention and control in China.

The forum is sponsored by He Vision Group, the National Training Center for Prevention and Treatment of Blindnesss and Prevention Treatment Base of myopia for Liaoning Teenagers.

Myopia affects health and character.

Dr. He Wei shared a set of data at the forum: there are more than 400 million myopia patients in China, especially teenagers, the incidence of myopia ranks second in the world, and the number of people ranks first in the world, and it is affecting younger and younger population. The detection rate of myopia among primary and secondary school students is 53.8% (60.7% in urban areas and 30.7% in rural areas), and that of students above senior high school is as high as 70%. The incidence of high myopia has reached 5 to 10 times of the international average. Myopia is seriously endangering the healthy growth of young people, and even affecting their character. China is also facing major challenges in refractive correction and the supply of glasses or contact lenses.

To this end, the forum actively explored and vigorously strengthened the comprehensive research on the law of visual development of young children and the prediction, prevention and early intervention of myopia, increased international exchanges and cooperation, and strengthened the cooperation between education departments and ophthalmologists. We should actively train optometry professionals in order to gradually improve the ability of prevention and treatment of myopia among teenagers in various countries.

With the continuous development of information technology, traditional myopia prevention and control measures, such as simply strengthening eye health, have been unable to effectively control the speed of myopia development in teenagers. International ophthalmologists and myopia prevention and control researchers have put forward more practical and effective methods for us: establishing files of children's refractive development, increasing outdoor time, popularizing the concept and knowledge of adolescent myopia prevention and control, medical and educational integration. We will improve the system for the prevention and control of myopia. We should strive to achieve early intervention, early prevention, and control the development of myopia within a controllable range.

Ophthalmology bigwigs from all over the world, teach you how to prevent myopia.

When it comes to myopia prevention and control, the most active group is the young parents. In the face of increasingly severe myopia of younger age and heavy myopia, parents are worried and baffled. In this forum, experts and scholars have given a lot of valuable guidance to answer many questions in the hearts of parents.

Expert question and answer time.

NO.1 Is it necessary for a myopic child to wear glasses?

Nathan Congdon (Kangnan, Zhongshan Eye Center, Sun Yat-sen University: 12.8 million of the children around the world have visual impairment, half of whom live in China. Among the causes of visual impairment in Chinese children, 90% have uncorrected refractive errors. Therefore, for children with true myopia, wearing frame glasses is one of the economical and safe treatments.

Professor Kang Nan

He Xiangdong, vice president of He Eye Specialist Hospital : it is found that children have symptoms such as squinting or close vision, and should be examined in a regular hospital in time. If in the preschool age cannot wear glasses, school-age children wearing myopic glasses should be low correction, according to the distance between the seat and the blackboard to choose the corrected visual acuity 0.7 to 1.0, can see the blackboard book to prevail.

NO.2 When does myopia prevention and control start best?

Dr. Xu Xun, vice president and director of ophthalmology of the First People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University, is expected to stabilize China's population at about 1 billion by 2100. 80 to 90 percent of the Chinese population are myopic, that is, about 800 to 900 million people need refractive correction. About 20 per cent are highly myopic, that is, about 1.5 to 200 million people may need further eye care. The ideal is very beautiful, the reality is not very desirable. For myopia, prevention is the key. Therefore, from birth, we should pay more attention to the myopia of Chinese children and prevent the lack of time node.

NO.3 Can heavy myopia cause blindness?

Ian Morgan, Center for Ophthalmology, Sun Yat-sen University, Australia National University:

1. Serious myopia can cause a variety of pathological changes, so it is one of the major causes of uncorrected visual injury.

2. Serious myopia is prone to cause pathological changes, which are difficult to treat and pricy, including retinal detachment, myopic macular degeneration, staphyloma and myopic retinoschisis.

3. Heavy myopia is a risk factor for cataracts and glaucoma.

4. Simple correction of ametropia in high myopia cannot prevent and control the development of these pathological changes, and the risk increases with the deepening of myopia.

In summary, high myopia should be regularly corrected and eye tests to minimize the risk. It is suggested that atropine eye drops, corneal shaping lens, prevention and control myopia glasses and contact lenses should be used properly, and avoid using eyes for a long time.
