The XVI Biennial Meeting of the Association for Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics (AOPT) will be held simultaneously in Shenyang, China and Indianapolis, USA on 12-13 August 2023. This will be the first time China hosts this international academic event.

AOPT (Association of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics) was formally established in August 1993. Its members come mainly from academic institutions, the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, equipment companies, medical institutions and clinics. The association focuses on three main areas of work, including the promotion and exchange of information and knowledge on the treatment of ocular diseases, promoting research and scientific advancements in ocular pharmacology and treatment, and assisting researchers and eye care professionals in understanding methods of treating ocular diseases.

This annual meeting will be hosted by the He Eye Specialist Hospital Group and Liaoning He University and co-organized by Eye Hospital China Academy of Chinese Medical Science, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Shanghai General Hospital, Henan Provincial People's Hospital, National Clinical Medical Research Centre for Eye Diseases, and State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology. The conference aims to provide a platform for pharmaceutical companies, clinical doctors, GCP organizations, drug research institutions, and researchers to engage in academic discussions, exchange ideas, and promote the translation of drug development.

Experts from domestic clinical, ophthalmic drug research, clinical real-world research, health industry associations and investment fields will gather in Shenyang to conduct in-depth discussions on the topics of innovation and development of Chinese medicine achievement transformation, preclinical research of new drug R&D, clinical research of new drugs, real-world research of ophthalmic drugs as well as the biomedical production and financing forum.
